Vancouver, October 2, 2025 – The Government of British Columbia has confirmed that the BC Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) will receive 1,254 extra immigration nominations from the federal government for 2025.
These additional spots will support the province’s key immigration priorities, which were first announced on April 14, 2025. Through a PNP you can apply for federal permanent residency (PR) application.
Focus on Key Immigration Priorities in bcpnp
The new BC PNP nominations will be allocated to:
- Healthcare professionals to strengthen B.C.’s healthcare system.
- Entrepreneurs and business immigrants who can create jobs and boost the economy.
- High economic impact candidates with valuable skills needed in the province.
Support for International Post-Graduate (IPG) Applicants
The BC PNP also confirmed that the extra nominations will allow the program to process part of the 2,240 International Post-Graduate (IPG) applications that were submitted in 2024 and remain on the waitlist.
The IPG stream is an important pathway for international students in Canada who complete master’s and doctoral programs in B.C. and want to stay and work in the province.
What Sectors are In Priority in BCPNP
BC has some specific sectors which are under priority for immigration as they are facing critical workers shortage. These sectors are:
- Childcare
- Construction
- Healthcare
- Technology
- Veterinary care
If you work in these sectors then you have good chances of getting invitation for PNP. It’s important to note that in Childcare only ECE is eligible and ECEA is not eligible under childcare sector. Currently Healthcare is the top most priority of BC.
International students if you study business and arts in Canada, you have very low chances of getting PNP from BC and other provinces. But if you study healthcare, childcare, trades you have very chances of getting a PNP not only from BC but from other provinces as well.
Important note: physicians, nurse practitioners and midwives, including other workers who are direct employees—and have the support—of a provincial health authority, may submit an application directly to the Health Authority stream.
