New Immigration News is coming from Quebec Canada. In a significant update affecting thousands of immigrants living in Quebec. The Provincial Government has paused new family sponsorship applications for certain categories.
Quebec will not accept any more sponsorship applications for the family members which include, spouse, common-law spouse, conjugal partner or any dependent child aged 18 or over. Quebec will not grant CSQ to these applicants.
This is a devastating news to people living in Quebec Canada and whose spouse live outside of Canada. So many immigrants get married in their original country and bring their family to Canada under family sponsorship application. But now they have to wait for a longer period of time or they have to leave Quebec and settle somewhere else.
This pause will remain until June 25, 2026 as province argues that it has reached the maximum number of undertaking applications allowed for family reunification category. Any application during this suspension period will be returned back without any processing and no fees will be deposited.
This will force sponsors to leave Quebec and settle in rest of Canada so that they can sponsor their family. Quebec may see a rise in brain drain from Quebec to other wealthy provinces such as Ontario and British Columbia.
For the applicants who live in Quebec they need Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ) from the Quebec government only then they can sponsor their family member for permanent residency.
