OINP Invites Majority of These Occupations for PR in 2024

In 2024, Ontario once again demonstrated its crucial role in supporting Ontario’s labor market and economic growth. Through its Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program(OINP), Ontario successfully issued 21,500 nominations- the maximum number it was allowed by federal government in federal allocation.

The OINP facilitated skilled workers, graduates, and entrepreneurs to settle permanently in Ontario, focusing on the province’s specific market needs, especially in high-demand sectors such as healthcare and technology.

2025 Nominations by Stream

The following streams issued the highest PNP invitations to applicants which are Express Entry Human Capital Stream-6,330, Employer Job Offer: International Student-3,283, Masters Graduate Stream-3,810, Express Entry: Skilled Trades-4,101, Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker-2,731, Employer Job Offer: In-Demand Skills-408, PhD Graduate-446, Express Entry: French-Speaking Skilled Worker-300, Entrepreneur-91

We can see from the above data that Express Entry Human Capital Stream issued highest number of invitations at 6,330 followed by Skilled trades stream with 4,101 and Masters Graduate Stream with 3,810.

Healthcare Sector a Top Priority

The Healthcare sector received 15% of all nominations with 3,200 nominations awarded to healthcare professionals-the highest in its program’s history, reflecting province’s strong commitment to address labour shortages in critical sectors.

The Key Nominated Healthcare occupations include registered nurses and psychiatric nurses, pharmacists, nurse aide and patient support workers and general practitioners and family doctors.

Technology Sector: 30% of All Nominations

Technology sector continues to drive Ontario’s economic growth prospects. In 2024, over 6,300 IT professionals received OINP nominations, constituting 30% of the total 21,500 nominations.

In-demand tech occupations include software engineers and developers, information system analysts, user support technician and business system professionals.

International Graduates Shine in 2024

The Masters graduate stream received 3,810 invitations, and the international student stream garnered 3,283 nominations, showing Ontario’s commitment to retain talented ,educated youth within the province.

PhD and Master’s graduates, who studied in Ontario have a dedicated permanent residency (PR) pathway under OINP, without requiring any job offer.

The 2024 OINP results showcase Ontario’s strategic efforts to fill the critical labor gaps simultaneously supporting long term economic development.

The OINP conducted targeted draws and prioritized occupations in healthcare and technology, solidifying Ontario’s position as on of the most attractive destinations for skilled immigrants.
