Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), is once again opening its doors for the family reunification, a initiative which they have promised in previous Immigration plans through the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP).

What is happening in 2025 with Parents and Grand Parents Program?
IRCC will accept up to 10,000 complete and up to date sponsorship applications this year alone under the famous Parents and Grandparents Program.
Starting from July 28, 2025 IRCC will start sending invitations to apply to only selected individuals. This process will take place over the period of approximately 2 weeks.
Who is Being Invited This Year?
Only individuals who submitted interest to sponsor form to their loved ones in 2020 and have not been invited yet, are eligible this year. No new forms will be accepted by IRCC this year 2025.
What You Should do Now if you Have Submitted Form in 2020?
Check your email including spam/junk folders on July 28, 2025. Make sure you’re checking the email address you used in 2020 submission.
How Can I Apply of I’m Invited ?
If you receive an invitation, you can submit the your application online through:
- The permanent residency portal, or
- The representative of permanent residency portal( if you are working with the immigration consultant or lawyer)
What if I don’t Get Invitation This Year ?
If you are not selected this year then you still have option to apply under super visa for your parents and grand parents. A super visa is a multiple entry visa, valid up to 10 years, allows your family to stay up to 5 years at a time and can be extended for up to 2 additional years without leaving Canada.

How much Income is needed to sponsor parents and grand parents?
IRCC will assess your past three years 2024, 2023 and 2022 financial income to be eligible for 2025 PGP. Here is the table for proof of funds requirements by family size (2022-2024)
