There is some good news for international graduates and temporary foreign workers in Canada. The Government of Saskatchewan has announced increased allocation to its PNP slots under Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). The province has been awarded additional 1,136 additional PNP nominations that brings total allocation to 4,761 for 2025.
This brings some relief to candidates in Saskatchewan who want to apply in SINP but were unable due to decreased quota of SINP. For skilled workers, international students, and temporary foreign workers this increased quota offers renewed opportunities to apply permanent residency in Canada through SINP.
Which sectors will benefit from increased SINP allocation?
As per the Provincial government the 25 % increased nomination will be only reserved for high demand service sectors, this includes trucking, accommodation, food service and retail. These industries employs immigrants in big number and have already reached their quota by June, forcing SINP to return any new applications. But with the increased nominations SINP can process new applications in above mentioned sectors.
The other 75% of new nominations will be awarded to non capped industries and priority given to healthcare, agriculture, and skilled trades. Canadian provinces are in the dire need of health care and skilled trade professions and SINP also wants to attract more skilled people towards its province.
Why SINP has to request to IRCC for increased nominations?
Earlier this year 2025, the federal government cut the province allocations by 50% compared to 2024. But on the other hand the applicants for SINP did not reduce. This created immense stress among the applicants and Saskatchewan also needed applicants to fill the labor shortage. Saskatchewan is the latest province securing additional PNP spots, there are also other provinces which received additional spots from federal government.
These provinces got extra PNP spots: New Brunswick received 1500 in June, Newfoundland and Labrador got 1000 in February and Yukon got 67 spots in August.
